STRETCH GOAL: Gilded Edges!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Apr 15, 2020 at 12:06:57 PM

FRIENDS! We're scrambling madly to keep up with you all.

Honestly, we didn't plan to announce stretch goals anywhere near this early! We thought we had more time to figure out graphics and stuff but you folks insist on buying these things way more quickly that we ever anticipated. Our minds are blown, and we're deeply grateful -- as well as more than a little frantic.

Look out for a larger post in the next few days with a whole series of stretch goals. But for now, our very first goal is:

This image crops nicely into a square for Instagram. Just sayin'.

$55,000: GILDED EDGES ON ALL CARDS. We wanted to do these at the very beginning, but we weren't sure we could squeeze it into the budget. Just LOOk at how beautiful these are. SO VERY SHINY. Yowza.

So keep spreading the word and festooning the entire internet with flowers, and we'll slather everything with gold, Midas-style.

What's important to you? What stretch goals would you like to see? We're considering an enamel pin, embossing on the Herbalist boxes, special prints, and a hardcover book book of Kevin's process, sketches, research and thoughts. We're open to other ideas too! With this level of support, and with you on our side, there's almost nothing we can't do...

WE LOVE YOU! We're so grateful we can hardly express it. Thank you, thank you, each and every one of you.

Botanically yours,

Kevin, Josh and Maëlle

BOTANICA Blossoms, After Eight Short Hours in the Sun! Thank You!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Apr 14, 2020 at 05:38:01 PM

GREAT MERCIFUL GODDESS! GREAT MERCIFUL GODDESS! What strange sorcery is this? For the first time in the history of Beehive Books, we've funded a Kickstarter campaign on its very first day. After a mere EIGHT HOURS, we've already surpassed our funding goal. We no longer have to wonder. BOTANICA will see print. It will blossom into full flower, making its way into the world.

We're flabbergasted. We're thunder-struck. From our stamen to our petals, we're moved, touched and grateful. Thank you, thank you, dearest friends. All four-hundred-some of you.

We have a lot to talk about over the next few days, and we'll be in touch soon with some stretch goals, and other exciting announcements for the future. But for now, we want to leave you with a short BOTANICA reading from its maestro Kevin Jay Stanton.

Instead of drawing a random card, I wanted to pick the card that I always start my own readings with, The Knight of Cups. I've used it as my significator (the stand-in for the Querent) for as long as I've done tarot, and it was one of the first cards I thumbnailed when I started planning the Minor Arcana.

In my deck, it represents an artistic, imaginative person. Someone with goals, but definitely more of a dreamer. The flower with it is Eglantine, or sweet briar - a beautiful, simple flower with a sweet scent, but covered with thorns. It was the foundation of the Titania's bough in A Midsummer Night's Dream. The Knight's helm is a reference to Pamela Colman Smith's original art - it's the winged helmet of a dreamer, or a messenger.

I want to share this card with you now, because as The Knight of Cups represents me as my significator, BOTANICA represents ALL of me. I've been working on this deck on and off for almost 5 years, I've been dreaming of this day that I could share this huge part of my lifelong obsession in a physical form. And because of your enthusiasm and support, it's no longer just a dream - BOTANICA is a reality.

Thank you, truly, for helping me make it real, even if it doesn't feel real to me just yet.

Onward into the unknown. Wishing you wellness and wildflowers, darlings.
